Our Story
It began with a love of natural skincare.
Who You Are began with a dear family friend, Mrs Rusic.
For years, while raising her ten children, Mrs Rusic developed natural skincare formulas and handmade soaps. She studied natural remedies and completed courses to better understand the ingredients and formulations she was creating, spending years refining her recipes.
Our family came to know and love her products. When she decided to stop making them, we didn't want to see something we valued so much disappear.
So we bought the recipes from her and continued making them ourselves..
And that's where our story began.
Natural skincare was already part of our family in other ways too.
Liz (Mum) had spent around ten years developing and making tallow balms, long before tallow became popular in skincare. Around the same time, Alexandra (eldest daughter) was developing and making natural soaps.
Between the three of them, there was a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience with natural ingredients and formulation.
We built on that foundation.
Six of us, building it together
Today, six members of our family are involved in Who You Are.
We've each brought different skills to the business, from formulation and making our products to packaging, design, administration and everything in between.
We've continued developing products of our own, drawing on the experience within our family while learning and experimenting along the way.
Why we wanted to share it
For a long time, these were simply products our family made and used.
But we loved them so much that we wanted other people to experience them too.
We wanted to make natural skincare that we genuinely trusted and enjoyed using available to more people — and to build something together as a family.
That became Who You Are.
Why the name?
The name came from something that sits at the heart of our family.
We believe there is a deep need today to know who we are and what we are worth.
So much of the world encourages us to find our identity in how we look, what we achieve or what other people think of us.
We believe our identity is found somewhere much deeper.
As a Christian family, we believe that God created us, knows us and loves us, and that He dwells within us.
That gives us a worth that isn't dependent on appearance, achievement or perfection.
That is what Who You Are is about.
A reminder in the everyday
We wanted that message to become part of something as ordinary as getting ready each morning or caring for your skin at night.
So when you reach for a Who You Are product, we hope the name does more than identify what's in the jar.
We hope it reminds you:
You are beautiful.
You are strong.
You are worthy.
You are loved.
Not because you have achieved something or because you look a certain way, but because you are so deeply Worthy and Loved.
From our family to yours
As a family-run natural skincare brand based in Warrnambool, Victoria, we are deeply grateful for the knowledge that has been passed down to us, for the people who have shaped our story, and for the privilege of creating products that we genuinely love.
But more than anything, it is a privilege to use what we create to remind you of something far greater than skincare — your worth and identity in God.
Every product is created with the hope that, in even the simplest moments of caring for yourself, you are reminded that you are deeply loved, wonderfully made, and infinitely valuable to Him.
